Three men arrested for smuggling Nvidia chips in Singapore
Three men were arrested in Singapore for allegedly smuggling Nvidia Blackwell chips, which are subject to U.S. export restrictions. They face fraud charges linked to a $390 million operation involving servers purchased from Dell and Supermicro. A Singaporean judge has set bail at S$800,000 and S$600,000 for the two Singaporeans, while the Chinese national faces S$1 million bail and must wear an electronic monitoring device if released. They are prohibited from discussing the case or entering border checkpoints. The next court hearing is scheduled for May 2, as prosecutors seek eight weeks to complete their investigation. The U.S. government has imposed restrictions on AI chip exports to prevent them from reaching certain countries, particularly China.
