Three in ten Romanian children face poverty, school dropout, and health problems

Three in ten Romanian children live in poverty, facing school dropout and health issues. Over one million children are at risk of poverty, hundreds of thousands have left school, and infant mortality is at a ten-year high, according to Salvati Copiii and World Vision Romania. Romania also has the highest rate of teenage mothers in the EU, and infant mortality has risen to 6.6 deaths per thousand live births in 2024.
