Thousands March in Lodi for Peace, Citing Italy's Rejection of War
Over 3,600 people, including 1,600 students, marched in Lodi on Saturday for the 14th Peace March, dedicated to "Peace, social justice and Constitution," calling for an end to conflicts in Gaza and Ukraine. The four-and-a-half-kilometer procession featured six stops where articles of the Italian Constitution were read, beginning with Article 11, which states Italy rejects war. Local officials and student leaders emphasized that peace must not mean surrender for children in Gaza or the Ukrainian people. The march concluded in Piazza della Vittoria with participants unfurling a 600-square-meter peace flag. The event was an official stop on the "Giro d'Italia per la pace" and included the Peace Lamp of Assisi, with over fifty local organizations and twenty municipalities participating.
