Thirteen-year-old girl dies from sepsis after delayed treatment at UK hospital
A 13-year-old girl, Chloe Longster, died from sepsis after experiencing severe pain and delayed pain relief at Kettering General Hospital in November 2022. Her mother reported that Chloe asked if she was going to die shortly before her passing. Chloe was admitted with rib pain and cold-like symptoms but was not diagnosed with influenza A until later. Her mother expressed concerns about the hospital's response, stating that Chloe's pain management was inadequate and that her condition was not taken seriously until it was too late. Medical staff acknowledged that Chloe's pain was severe but did not initially suspect sepsis. An inquest is ongoing to investigate the circumstances surrounding her death and the hospital's treatment.
