The Odyssey earns $1.1B at home and abroad, becoming Nolan's top film and Imax's biggest

Christopher Nolan’s “The Odyssey” has become his highest-grossing film ever with $1.1 billion globally and Imax’s biggest release of all time with $289 million. The epic surpassed “The Dark Knight Rises” ($1.08 billion) and “Avatar” ($271 million), not adjusted for inflation. It ranks second this year behind “Spider-Man: Brand New Day” and second among R-rated films after “Deadpool and Wolverine.” The film has earned $461 million domestically and $643 million internationally, with China opening August 14. It was shot entirely with Imax cameras, and 70mm screenings are sold out through September.
