The Odyssey becomes Christopher Nolan's highest-grossing movie

Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey grossed $1.104 billion globally, becoming his highest-grossing movie and surpassing The Dark Knight Rises. Released July 17, the Homer adaptation overtook The Dark Knight Rises ($1.085 billion) and The Dark Knight ($1.005 billion). Nolan's films have now grossed over $7 billion. The cast includes Matt Damon, Anne Hathaway, and Robert Pattinson. Classicist Emily Wilson criticized the film in the London Review of Books, but also called its release an event to celebrate. Universal executives praised Nolan's epic for resonating with audiences.
