Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey has surpassed $1 billion worldwide, becoming his highest-grossing film less than a month after its July 17 release. Starring Matt Damon as Odysseus, the epic earned $1.104 billion, surpassing The Dark Knight Rises’ $1.085 billion. The film, chronicling the hero’s ten-year journey home after the Trojan War, has drawn strong critical acclaim. Nolan’s films have now grossed over $7 billion globally. The Odyssey, budgeted at about $250 million, is one of three Universal releases to pass $1 billion this year.
