Executive producer Stephen Garrett stated they "painted ourselves rightly into a narrative corner" with the first season's ending, making a second season seem impossible. The addition of Diego Calva as Teddy Dos Santos provided a "fresh ignition" for the new installment. The second season, which premiered in January, explores a complex relationship between Jonathan Pine and Teddy Dos Santos as they work to destroy Richard Roper. The series will return for a third season.
