The Diplomat creator explains shorter second season due to time constraints

The second season of Netflix's political thriller, The Diplomat, premiered on October 31 with only six episodes, two fewer than the first season. Creator Debora Cahn cited time constraints as the reason for the reduced episode count. Cahn explained that the production schedule was tight, making it difficult to complete eight episodes. Although Netflix preferred the full eight, the team opted for a shorter season due to these challenges. Despite the fewer episodes, Season 2 features significant plot developments. A third season has been confirmed and will return to the original eight-episode format.
