The Chinese Unitree robot G1 performed a side flip
The Chinese company Unitree has developed a humanoid robot named G1 capable of performing a complete side flip, a first for its size. This advance stems from improved AI algorithms, including reinforcement learning used by other firms. The G1 also demonstrates complex movements, like disarming a person with a stick. The G1 robot, standing at 1.3 meters and weighing 35 kg, uses lidar and a 3D camera to perceive its surroundings. It has 23 joints and runs on a removable battery offering two hours of operation, reaching speeds up to 7 km/h. The current price is around $16,000. Unitree aims to enhance autonomous mobility, envisioning future applications like disaster response and industrial inspection. While the "kung-fu" capabilities are a demonstration, the innovation focuses on enabling robots to navigate complex environments.
