Thailand to Transfer Legit Local Exam Passers by November, Recover Funds From Cheaters

Thailand's Deputy Interior Minister Worasit Leangprasert announced on September 3 that candidates who legitimately passed the 2025 local government exams will be transferred and placed in positions by November, while authorities pursue legal action and seek to reclaim money and benefits from those involved in cheating. The exam process was overhauled after complaints from Sisaket province led to the cancellation of a contract with Burapha University and a new bidding process won by Srinakharinwirot University. The minister denied allegations of political interference, stating the cancellation was based on fact-finding committee recommendations. Authorities are coordinating with five oversight agencies to investigate the fraud network, and local administrative organizations are being urged to halt hiring of individuals whose appointments were revoked. The minister confirmed no re-examination will be held for affected candidates.
