TfL plans solar farms to power London Underground with renewable energy

Transport for London (TfL) plans to establish dedicated solar farms to help power the London Underground. This initiative aims to support the mayor's green agenda by using renewable energy sources. TfL is inviting bids for solar farms, which will likely be located near the Underground network. The farms could provide up to 64 megawatts of clean energy, covering about five percent of the Tube's electricity needs. In addition to solar farms, TfL is converting lighting in stations and on trains to energy-efficient LEDs. Over a third of Tube stations have already made the switch, with plans to complete the conversion of all bus shelters soon.
