This revelation has sparked debate about the hat's production location. The RCMP's website and social media previously claimed the hats were made in Guelph, Ontario, but the factory closed in 2012. The hats are now produced at a Dorfman Milano plant in Garland, Texas, according to the RCMP. The Stetson has been part of the RCMP uniform since 1904. The RCMP has not proactively sought a Canadian manufacturer since 2017, when Dorfman Milano was the only bidder.
