Texas bans DeepSeek and RedNote on government devices over data security concerns

Texas has become the first state to ban the AI app DeepSeek and the social media app RedNote from government devices. Governor Greg Abbott issued the order, citing concerns over data security and foreign influence. The ban also includes Lemon8, another app owned by TikTok's parent company, ByteDance. This decision follows growing concerns about data collection practices and potential risks associated with apps linked to China. Previously, TikTok was already banned on government devices since December 2022. The new restrictions reflect ongoing worries about data privacy and security related to Chinese-owned applications.
