Texas attorney general sues 3M and DuPont over health risks of forever chemicals
Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton has filed a lawsuit against 3M and DuPont, accusing them of misleading consumers about the health risks of PFAS, known as "forever chemicals." These chemicals have been used in household products for decades. The lawsuit claims that the companies concealed the dangers of PFAS, which have been linked to serious health issues, including cancer. This legal action follows reports of PFAS contamination affecting farmers in Johnson County, Texas. Texas has previously taken steps against PFAS manufacturers, and this lawsuit represents a significant escalation in efforts to address the issue. Nearly 50 public water systems in Texas have reported PFAS levels exceeding new federal limits.
