Teoscar Hernández's walk-off double lifts Dodgers past Cardinals, 3-2

Teoscar Hernández hit a walk-off double with runners on first and second in the ninth inning, giving the Dodgers a 3-2 victory over the Cardinals on Thursday and avoiding a series sweep at Dodger Stadium. Hernández, who had struggled offensively most of the season, had taken 26 at-bats with runners in scoring position over the previous two games with only one hit. He credited a swing in Detroit on Saturday for unlocking his improved form, going six for 13 against the Cardinals. Manager Dave Roberts said Hernández's performance was his best against right-handed pitchers since April, and the team chose not to bring up an outfielder when rosters expanded Sept. 1. Tommy Edman, filling in for Shohei Ohtani, led the team with four hits.
