Tenerife restricts Teide access on August 12-13 nights for eclipse and Perseids

Tenerife will bar private vehicles from Teide National Park on August 12-13 nights, during the solar eclipse and Perseids peak, to prevent congestion and protect the area. Restrictions run 5 p.m. to 5 a.m. with four checkpoints on the TF-21, TF-24, and TF-38 roads. Exceptions cover buses, freight, emergencies, park workers, and lodge guests. Special TITSA buses will operate from 7:30 p.m. to 2:30 a.m. Previous Perseids nights drew over 2,000 vehicles, causing roadside parking, traffic jams, and emergency-access risks. Authorities aim to ensure fast evacuation if a forest fire occurs during the astronomical events.
