Teen sentenced for blowing vape fumes into black swan's beak in Mandurah

A 16-year-old boy was sentenced to a four-month community-based order for forcing a black swan to inhale vape fumes in a video shared on social media. He pleaded guilty to two charges of causing unnecessary harm to an animal. The incident occurred near Endeavour Island in Mandurah, where the teen removed a fishing lure from the swan before blowing vapour into its beak. A second swan was allegedly slapped and discarded, later found dead in bushland. The court heard the boy had no prior convictions and apologized for his impulsive actions. His co-accused, accused of slapping the swan, will face court in September.
