Technology and data key to stronger healthcare, says UP Deputy CM Pathak

Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak said Wednesday that technology and data are vital for strengthening the healthcare system, addressing a workshop on the 'SUMAN Roadmap-2030' strategy to prevent avoidable maternal and newborn deaths. Pathak emphasized that preventing these deaths requires more than improving health indices, highlighting the importance of safe deliveries, proper pregnancy care, post-delivery monitoring, and timely health services. He noted the government is working to ensure specialist doctors and staff are available at every health unit. He called on all states to share experiences and adapt the roadmap to their specific needs, adding that goals cannot be achieved by limiting maternal health efforts to the Health Department alone. Frontline workers like ASHA and ANM staff are the system's real strength.
