TDK's sensor-equipped javelin debuts at Budapest athletics championship

TDK will debut a sensor-equipped "Smart Javelin" at the World Athletics Ultimate Championship in Budapest from September 11-13, capturing real-time data on throws. The technology tracks release angle, rotation, speed, height, and flight path for live analysis. The demonstration will feature top athletes including world No.1 Rumesh Tharanga Pathirage and Olympic champions Keshorn Walcott and Haruka Kitaguchi. TDK's software converts the data into visualizations for athletes and spectators, building on its partnership with World Athletics since 1983. The initiative is part of TDK's "Sensing Within" strategy to expand sensor applications across sectors. The inaugural championship in Budapest offers a $10 million prize fund and brings together world champions and top-ranked athletes biennially.
