TCS employee costs increase by Rs. 10,000 crore despite 23,000 layoffs

Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) saw employee expenses rise by approximately Rs. 10,000 crore in FY26, despite reducing its workforce by over 23,000 employees. The IT giant's total employee costs reached Rs. 1.5 lakh crore for its 584,519 employees as of March 31, 2026. This surge includes salaries, bonuses, and other benefits. TCS also incurred Rs. 1,268 crore in restructuring costs for employee exits and is proceeding with annual salary increases for all employees starting April 1, 2026.
