Tariff hearing conducted for Thar Block-1 coal mine

The Thar Coal & Energy Board (TCEB) held a public hearing on March 14 to discuss a tariff petition from Sino Sindh Resources Pvt Ltd (SSRL) for its Thar Block-1 lignite mine. The project aims to produce 7.8 million tonnes of coal annually. SSRL is seeking approval for a coal tariff of $48.71 per tonne, which includes necessary cost adjustments. The project, part of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor, involves a $3 billion investment and includes two coal-fired power plants. TCEB emphasized its commitment to transparency and will consider stakeholder feedback before making a final decision on the tariff.
