A tanker was struck by two unidentified projectiles in the Strait of Hormuz today, according to the UK Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO), with no reports of casualties. The vessel's engine room was hit, and no environmental impact has been reported. The incident occurred 14 nautical miles northeast of Lima, off the Omani coast. Before the Middle East war began on February 28 with US-Israeli strikes on Iran, the strait carried about 20% of global hydrocarbon consumption. Iran has since targeted ships crossing without its approval, while the US has blockaded Iranian ports.
