Tamil Nadu Assembly urges Centre to make Tamil Madras High Court's principal language

The Tamil Nadu Assembly unanimously adopted a resolution on Thursday urging the Centre to recognise Tamil as the principal language of the Madras High Court. Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay moved the resolution, which received support from all parties. The resolution was backed by key opposition parties, including the DMK, whose legislators spoke in favour during the session. The chief minister stated the move was not against any language, while members recalled past initiatives supporting the demand. Speaker JCD Prabhakar declared the resolution adopted unanimously. The demand reflects a long-standing push to elevate Tamil's official status within the state's judicial system.
