Taiwan's new pre-sale home market faces sharp decline
New home pre-sale purchases have plummeted, with sales in a quarter now failing to match a single month's activity from the peak period. The slowdown is most pronounced in central and southern Taiwan, along with Hsinchu County and City, where it now takes approximately five months to reach the transaction volume of a single month during the market's peak. Monthly pre-sale disclosures in major cities have not exceeded 1,000 units for three consecutive months. Experts attribute the decline to factors including stricter mortgage regulations and economic uncertainties, such as potential impacts from tariffs. The pre-sale market is seen as a key indicator of overall housing market health.
