Taiwan Water Corporation fined NT$500,000 for Keelung water contamination

Taiwan Water Corporation's Keelung branch was fined NT$500,000 for supplying water with an oily odor, affecting over 150,000 households. The contamination originated from the Bado pumping station drawing raw water from the Keelung River. The fine was imposed under the Drinking Water Management Act, and authorities are investigating the source of the pollution. Water company officials stated that water quality has been restored, and residents can use the water after flushing their pipes and tanks. The city government has also established an emergency response team and will provide subsidies for water and filter cleaning.
