Taichung begins public hearings for MRT Green Line extension

Public hearings for the Taichung MRT Green Line extension project begin today, aiming to gather public input on the proposed expansion. The project seeks to extend the line north to Dakeng and south to Changhua. The extension project, spanning 9.94 kilometers with eight elevated stations, faces challenges in the Changhua section due to the unresolved Changhua Eastern urban plan. The city is considering a "one-time approval, phased construction" approach. The three public hearings will be held in Wuri, Beitun, and Changhua, with the goal of serving 562,000 people and reducing private vehicle usage. The total project cost is estimated at 35.591 billion NTD.
