Taapti project will improve Burhanpur's falling water levels

A major water recharge project is planned to improve declining water levels in Burhanpur, India, following a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra. The Taapti Basin Mega Recharge Project, considered the world's largest groundwater recharge initiative, will involve dam construction and benefit areas across both states, including Burhanpur, with an estimated cost of 19,000 crore. The project aims to provide irrigation to a large area of land, increase farmer income, and stabilize agricultural production, with the states now seeking approval from the Indian government.
