T3 Bankstown Line closes for Sydney Metro construction, replacement buses in service

The T3 Bankstown Line in Sydney is now closed for construction as it is being converted to a metro line. This change affects about 60,000 daily commuters who are adjusting to a new transport system. On the first day of the closure, transport staff reported a successful morning commute. Replacement buses, which are free to ride, are now operating between Bankstown, Sydenham, and Lidcombe stations. Over 10,000 commuters used the replacement bus routes on Monday, with most buses arriving on time. Transport officials expect increased demand when school resumes in two weeks.
