Sydney's M1 metro line construction progresses as driverless train testing approaches

smh.com.au

Construction on Sydney's M1 metro line is advancing, with testing of driverless trains set to begin by February. Workers are installing platform screen doors, mechanical gap-fillers, and security fencing to prepare for this phase. As of now, 160 of 360 platform screen doors have been installed at 10 upgraded stations. Canterbury station is the first to complete the installation, featuring a 180-meter barrier along its platforms. Additionally, nearly two-thirds of the 170 mechanical gap fillers needed have been fitted. These devices will help ensure safe boarding and disembarking for commuters as the new system is implemented.
