Switzerland launched Apertus, its own sovereign language model, a significant advancement in artificial intelligence. Developed by EPFL and ETH Zurich with 150 engineers and professors using the Alps supercomputer, Apertus aims to be a secure, reliable alternative to existing AI models. The project, supported by public funds, positions Switzerland globally in AI development and will soon be available for public testing.
