Switzerland imports record crude oil from the United States

Switzerland imported a record 1.5 million tons of crude oil from the United States last year, a 8% increase. This marks a significant shift, as US oil exports to Switzerland were banned for over 40 years until 2015. Increased US production and the lifting of the export ban have made the US Switzerland's top oil supplier. The crude oil is processed at Switzerland's sole refinery, with Nigeria and Kazakhstan being other notable suppliers.
