Swiss team launches mission to tackle space debris with ClearSpace Mission-1

A Swiss team is launching ClearSpace Mission-1 to tackle the growing problem of space debris. Currently, about 35,000 pieces of debris orbit Earth, increasing the risk of satellite collisions. The mission, set for 2028, aims to capture and safely dispose of the European Space Agency's Proba-1 satellite. The project is backed by an 86-million-euro contract from the agency. ClearSpace's initiative highlights the need for space sustainability as the satellite industry expands. The total cost for the mission is estimated at 120 million euros.
