Swiss project PreDiabeTx, led by Empa, will use artificial intelligence and digital sensors to prevent type 2 diabetes, targeting high healthcare costs and patient suffering. The Innosuisse flagship consortium includes seven research institutions and eleven partners from insurance, hospitals, and industry. It aims to develop personalized AI coaches, sustainable incentive models, and textile sensor wearables for non-invasive health monitoring. About half a million people in Switzerland have type 2 diabetes, often linked to lifestyle. The project launched in late 2025 and runs through 2029.
