Sweden's fossil-free construction site achieves 50% electric operation with new Volvo loader
A construction site in Sweden has reached 50% electric operation, doubling its previous target of 10% from two years ago. This milestone was achieved with the addition of a new Volvo L120H Electric Conversion wheel loader. The site, located in Stockholm's Slakthusområdet, has gained recognition for its sustainability efforts, saving 2,759 tons of CO2 emissions as of June 2024. It received the "Sustainable Construction Project of the Year" award for its achievements. Future plans include further reducing carbon emissions in the next project phase, starting in mid-2025. The site will also add electric semi-trucks and other electric machinery to enhance its fossil-free operations.
