Swapnasundari brings Vilasini Natyam to Delhi's Stein Auditorium

Classical dancer Swapnasundari captivated a Delhi audience with Vilasini Natyam at Stein Auditorium, performing works depicting Satyabhama's love for Krishna and a reimagined ritual prayer for universal peace. The evening opened with "Parijatham," a dance drama where Swapnasundari used nuanced abhinaya and handcrafted ornaments to portray Satyabhama's complex emotions. The second piece, "Sarve Jana Sukhino Bhavanthu," was performed by students from Ganesa Natyalaya, showcasing the ancient Agama Baliharanam ritual through movement and visuals. The performance was part of the Madhavi Festival, honouring Madhavi Gopalakrishnan's devotion to classical arts. The work emerged from a 10-day workshop, with co-founder Rama Vaidyanathan noting dance's role as both prayer and pedagogy. The audience included prominent figures like Kathak exponent Shovana Narayan.
