SVT poll finds Swedes polarized over climate reporting

A new SVT-commissioned survey shows Swedes' views on climate reporting are as polarized as the climate debate, with opinion split nearly evenly on whether coverage is excessive or insufficient. The survey of 1,500 Swedes found a third think media report too little about climate, a third find coverage adequate, and a quarter say it's too extensive. Views diverge by politics: 57% of Tidö voters say consequences are exaggerated; red-green voters hold the opposite view. SVT says the findings change nothing: its mission remains factual journalism with multiple perspectives, without confirming any particular audience's worldview. The survey was conducted July 23-29, 2026, with 1,863 responses and a 40% participation rate.
