A suspected Ukrainian drone exploded near a gas pipeline in Bulgaria, the government said Saturday, noting there was no sign the incident was deliberate. The defense ministry said debris indicated a type frequently used by Ukraine's armed forces. Bulgaria summoned Ukraine's ambassador. Kyiv said it was fully open to joint investigation and insisted its forces never intentionally target Bulgaria. The drone carried explosives; no one was injured. It crashed on a sunflower field about one kilometer from a Transbalkan Pipeline compressor station and 100 meters from the Romanian border. No damage was reported.
