Suspected mpox case reported at Sao Paulo airport

A suspected case of mpox has been reported at Guarulhos Airport near Sao Paulo, Brazil, according to health agency Anvisa. The passenger, who arrived on August 14, exhibited symptoms and was sent to a specialized hospital. Brazil has recorded over 700 confirmed or probable mpox cases this year, but none involve the new variant recently declared a global public health emergency by the WHO.
