Sushi Ikko: Tokyo's Finest Sushi, From Sapporo to Ginza

Tokyo's Ginza district now hosts Sushi Ikko, a top-tier sushi restaurant recommended by Yasushi Akimoto as one of Japan's finest. The establishment, helmed by chef Junya Kudo, moved from Sapporo to Tokyo in August 2024. Kudo inherited the restaurant from his father, who still assists at the counter. The omakase course, starting at ¥60,000, features seasonal delicacies like spring kasugo, summer mantis shrimp, and autumn grilled matsutake. Akimoto praises the chef's dedication and the harmonious dining experience. Reservations are extremely difficult to secure, prioritizing regular customers from the Sapporo era and requiring introductions. The restaurant operates two evening seatings with eight counter seats, and is closed Wednesdays.
