Supreme Court suspends YouTuber Gulshan Pahuja's jail term in contempt case

The Supreme Court on Thursday suspended the six-month jail sentence of YouTuber Gulshan Pahuja, who was convicted of criminal contempt by the Delhi High Court, and ordered his immediate release from custody. A bench of Justices Dipankar Datta and Sheel Nagu issued notice on Pahuja's appeal against the High Court's ruling, which had imposed the maximum punishment of six months' imprisonment and a Rs 2,000 fine in each contempt case, with sentences running concurrently. The High Court had sentenced Pahuja on May 20 for scandalising the judiciary, noting he showed no regret and made further remarks comparing judicial arbitrariness to "dictatorship" during the sentencing hearing. It had suspended the sentence for 60 days to allow him to approach the Supreme Court.
