Superfungus spreads to Slovakia, causing facial infections

A dangerous "superfungus" is spreading, with cases now confirmed in Slovakia. The infection can affect the face and is difficult to diagnose. The fungus, Trichophyton indotineae, causes itchy, painful rashes, often initially in the groin area, but can spread to the face. Slovakia has recorded a small number of cases, with experts not currently expecting a large epidemic. This superfungus is resistant to common treatments and requires specialized testing. It spreads through skin contact and shared items like towels and clothing, with prevention involving good hygiene and washing laundry at high temperatures.
