Summit County event helps over 160 people expunge old felony records
Summit County held its first expungement day on Tuesday, assisting over 160 individuals seeking to seal or expunge old felony records. The event took place at the Summit County Courthouse and involved public defenders and prosecutors reviewing cases. Prosecutor Elliot Kolkovich and Clerk of Courts Tavia Galonski organized the event to help residents understand their options for clearing their records. Many attendees expressed hope for a fresh start. Old felony convictions can limit access to jobs and financial aid. Officials aimed to provide support for those who have shown rehabilitation, allowing them a chance to move forward.
