Study finds walking 2,337 steps daily can cut heart disease death risk

A recent study published in the European Journal of Preventive Cardiology found that walking as few as 2,337 steps daily can significantly reduce the risk of dying from heart disease. This is much lower than the commonly suggested 10,000 steps. The research analyzed data from over 200,000 people and showed that at least 3,867 steps a day can lower the risk of dying from any cause. Each additional 1,000 steps taken daily was linked to a 15 percent decrease in mortality risk. Experts noted that the 10,000-step goal originated from a marketing campaign in the 1960s. While walking more steps is generally beneficial, the study highlights that fewer steps can still provide significant health benefits.
