Study finds monkeys unlikely to write Shakespeare despite infinite typing theory
A new study by Australian mathematicians challenges the "infinite monkey theorem," which suggests that monkeys typing randomly could eventually write Shakespeare's works. They found that even with all the chimps in the world typing for the universe's lifespan, it is "almost certain" they would not succeed. The researchers calculated that a single monkey typing one key per second for 30 years has only a 5% chance of typing the word "banana." With around 200,000 chimps typing, the odds of producing Shakespeare's 884,647 words remain extremely low. The study concludes that monkey typing is not a viable method for creating meaningful written works. The authors humorously reference Shakespeare's own words from "Hamlet" to emphasize their point.
