Study finds Europe unprepared for Russian drone attacks, cannot attribute them

A new study finds Europe is unprepared for Russian drone attacks and unable to clearly attribute such incidents to Moscow. The International Institute for Strategic Studies and Germany's Hanns Seidel Foundation analyzed 144 incidents across twelve NATO countries and Ireland from August 2024 to February 2026, finding current counter-drone defenses inadequate. The report says no European government has publicly attributed a drone overflight to Russia, and officials have focused on national responses instead of connecting cross-border incidents. A foundation leader called the situation alarming.
