Disney and Welsh broadcaster S4C will release the first Welsh-language dub of Star Wars: A New Hope, titled Star Wars: Gobaith Newydd, airing from Christmas Day into 2027. The voice cast includes Matthew Rhys as Han Solo, Rhys Ifans as Obi-Wan Kenobi, Aimee-Ffion Edwards as Princess Leia, and Mark Lewis Jones as Darth Vader. The dub was announced at the National Eisteddfod, Wales’s cultural festival. It follows Lucasfilm’s 2013 Navajo dub and 2023 Ojibwe dub, part of broader accessibility efforts. Lucasfilm co-president Lynwen Brennan, born in Wales, supports the project.
