Star 1,300 light-years away consumes a planet and prepares for another

A star 1,300 light-years away shows signs of having consumed a planet and may be preparing to consume another. Astronomers detected unusually high levels of lithium in the star TOI-5882, suggesting it absorbed a planet. A nearby massive brown dwarf is suspected of disrupting planetary orbits, potentially causing the engulfment. This brown dwarf is also predicted to be consumed by the star much sooner than previously thought, possibly within 25 to 30 million years.
