Sri Lanka probes deaths of British and German tourists in Colombo hostel

Sri Lankan police are investigating the deaths of two foreign women who fell ill at a hostel in Colombo. A 24-year-old British woman and a 26-year-old German woman were hospitalized after experiencing severe symptoms. The British woman died on February 1, shortly after being admitted. The German woman passed away later, while a German man who was with her remains hospitalized. Authorities are looking into whether toxic pesticides used for insect control in their rooms may be linked to the deaths. Food poisoning is also being considered as a possible cause.
