Spider-Man: Brand New Day tops Australian box office for second weekend

Spider-Man: Brand New Day retained the top spot at the Australian box office for a second consecutive weekend, earning $17.14 million from Thursday, August 6th through Sunday, August 9th. This brings its total Australian gross to $55.59 million. The film, starring Tom Holland and Zendaya, previously set records with a $30.43 million opening weekend, making it the biggest film of 2026 in Australia and the largest opening weekend since 2019. Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey placed second with $5.21 million, while Toy Story 5 and Moana followed with $436,000 and $353,000 respectively. Other new releases included Holy Days debuting in fifth place with $331,000, followed by Minions & Monsters, The Invite, Super Trooper 3, Ice Cream Man, and Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma. The top 10 films accounted for 96% of the national weekend gross, according to Hoyts.
